Have you have ever run into a flashing message while browsing the internet, claiming your computer is infected? Maybe you have seen a pop up that says your antivirus is ready to expire or Windows activation is about to end. Along with the alarming message there is usually an 800# for you to call. DO NOT CALL THAT NUMBER!!!
Unfortunately one of the most common tactics unscrupulous people use when attempting to steal your information and money is fake tech support scams. Their goal is to get you to install a program on your computer that will allow them access to it. There are numerous remote access programs out there. Teamviewer, Log Me In, Ultraviewer and Anydesk are just a few.
If you find yourself in this situation don’t fall for it. Below we have provided a link to the Federal Trade Commission website. You can get more information on this subject and if you have been a victim of one of these scams you can find instructions on how to report it.
If you do happen to fall victim to one of these scams we can help. Bring in your computer so we can remove any unwanted remote software and repair any damage that may have been done.
